LUMPEN is a band created in Barcelona, and it carries the indisputable touch of rawness provided by the Colombian roots of its members. It sounds quite close to what the cover of the Demo conveys, designed by the band's bassist Mateo Correal, and without a doubt it captures its title: desperation. Iconic rhythms of the UK-82 accompany messages that invite you to take over public spaces and a kind of self-managed urban guerrilla warfare driven by the nihilistic impulse that is conducive to punk. Strictly aimed at capturing a feeling rather than replicating something substantially musical, the melodious booming bass beats consume the listener in what feels like a kind of suction into a dark pit of tar. A voice in agony accompanies visceral bursts of noise that incite the insane pogo.
