COMPLETE LOSS are back! Since their demo in 2018 at SFR Hardcore, the band from the deep west of Germany has been quiet. But the wait was worth it. COMPLETE LOSS breaks new ground where Castillo, Repeat Offenders, Rixe, Beton Arme and The Chisel have set the field on fire. Clear line, played hard, uncompromising, melodic, old school and at the same time up-to-date. People make music here who know exactly how punk has to work and who don't feel like the next boring shitty album without heart and spine - and who obviously have excellent taste in music.
Musically, COMPLETE LOSS stands alongside No Time and Alternate Action, Savageheads and Blitz. In contrast to the demo, the new disc by COMPLETE LOSS is peppered with more singalongs without becoming pleasing. The recipe is a simple but firmly played Telecaster sound, driving drums that cover mid-tempo as well as one-two and vocals reminiscent of old Slapshot and Sick Of It All. With this recipe, the band turns the record into a pure Oi! disc of the heavier variety.
People have also given some thought to the artwork here. The cover in the Böhse-Menschen-Böhse-Lieder livery was designed by Keith Caves, who is also responsible for the artwork for Pittsburg-based NO TIME. COMPLETE LOSS rubs all the bad things in the world in our faces: nuclear war, desperation, jail and barbed wire. The back shows the band in front of their rehearsal room, as German Labels like to do. What's great is that the cover is made of high quality cardboard, so it's clear that it's going to be relevant for a while. If that's not 80s enough for you, you'll be happy with the red inlay in the fanzine snippet look. And if that's still not enough, there's another poster that makes it clear who's making our lives hell and why punk fucking keeps its place!
